There are numerous natural trails to enjoy around San Diego County. One that I particularly enjoy is in the hilly, treelined secluded area known as Elfin Forest. The nearest town is the new development of San Elijo Hills, which has a central commercial shopping area that has a lot of charm and character.
The Elfin Forest hike wanders in a few different directions, sometimes by a nice creek, and usually in the shade of lush old growth. Find directions through the Elfin Forest Facebook page.
